I was talking to a couple of my friends the other day and we came across the subject of whether it is solely the responsibility of men to buy condoms. Personally, I have always been taught that I (a man) should be the one to make sure that I am always ready to practice safe sex. However, Matt, a friend of mine, disagreed with this notion. His argument was that sexual health is something that both men and women need to take very seriously, and therefore he always encourages his girlfriend to always make sure that she has condoms at her place.

I suggested that men don’t often pay for other contraceptive methods such as the morning after pill or contraceptive implants. Matt did agree on that point, but he pointed out the differences between these methods. “Condoms are a great way to prevent against pregnancy, but preventing against serious STIs is even more important and that’s why girls need to be responsible too”, he explained. I have to admit that at this point I did agree with him. But, a few of the girls that we were with were still not convinced.

Eventually one of the girls, Elisabeth, explained something which I found quite startling. She explained that she had never bought rubbers in her life and said that the reason was because she had always been too nervous. “When you’re a teenage girl and you buy condoms you’re afraid that people are going to judge you” she told us. “Ah” said Matt immediately, “But, you can buy them online now”. The girls were stumped. Matt sat back with a big smile, argument won.

Sex drive killers can be troublesome to not only your body, but to your mind also. Many experts suggest that once there is a drop in sex drive, there is no looking back and people are bound to indulge in extra marital affairs. But to look in totality, what exact is affecting sexual performance? A host of physiological and psychological factors can decrease your libido and affect your sex life.

Lack of intimacy – Lack of intimacy can be one of the biggest sex drive killers for both men and women. If you are one of those who comes home from work and again continues to work from home, it’s high time you focus on ways to rev up your sex life.

Premature ejaculation – Men suffering from premature ejaculation tend to come earlier than they would want or their partners would desire. This leaves their partners wanting for more as they are not able to enjoy sexual pleasures due to their partners’ rapid climax.

Erectile dysfunction – It is the inability of most men to not achieve erection, strong enough, to let them enjoy long-lasting sex. Men suffering from erectile dysfunction always worry about their sexual performance. The drop in testosterone levels can also make men lose interest in sexual activities.

Lack of sleep – If you are sleeping less than 6 hours a day, then it can definitely interfere with your libido. Too little of sleep can indicate that you might be suffering from insomnia or sleep apnoea leading to drop in your lovemaking interest.

The bottom line is that you can adopt certain self-help techniques to stop premature ejaculation and live a happy sex life. A couple’s approach towards solving sexual problems can give both partners enough opportunity to overcome their limitations in an effective way.
