doctor explaining about warts medicine

There is a vaccine available for genital warts, a medication called Gardasil. This is a laboratory produced vaccination and you might not get it on the NHS. If you want to use it, you will have to get it at a private clinic.

Taking Gardasil

Men and women who have already been infected by the human papilloma virus (HPV) cannot be treated with this medication. It can only work for you, if you take it before you are infected. It has been licensed to treat children and young adults who fall between the age groups of 9 and 26. It’s important that the vaccination be taken when you are young, because your chances of suffering from an HPV infection increase once you have already had sex. This medication is taken through three injections taken over a period of six months.

Protection offered

This medication does not offer protection against all types of HPV. It only focuses on 4 different types of HPV, namely type 18, 16, 11 and 6. Various studies indicate that around 9 in 10 genital warts cases are a result of HPV type 6 and 11 infection. Also, it’s been found that 7 in 10 cases of cervical cancer are a result of an infection with HPV type 16 and 18.

Alternatives for warts treatment

What do you do if you are already suffering from genital warts? This vaccine isn’t going to help you out. In such cases, you need to consult your doctor to get started on an effective treatment option for your condition. You can go for prescription medications or alternative options such as homeopathic options such as Wartrol. Such solutions help stimulate the healing process of the body and 3 weeks-6 months treatment can help you rid yourself of genital warts completely.
